BATH — The Rotary Club of Bath will have its first “4 Way 5K” race this weekend, headlined by Bath native Rev. Dr. George Dole, one of five men competing against Roger Bannister when he ran a sub- 4-minute mile in 1954. The race is named for the Four Way Test — four questions Rotarians around the world use to evaluate their thoughts, words, and actions.

The 5K run/walk will start at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, in front of the Knights of Columbus Hall on Middle Street.

Proceeds from the race will benefit the local charitable projects of the Bath Rotary, including the vocational programs at the Bath Regional Career and Technical Center, the Bath Food Pantry, SEARCH Greater Bath, Bath- Tsugaru Sister City Program, Maine’s First Ship, Friends of Seguin and Bath Freight Shed Alliance, among others.

Advance registration is $20, race day registration is $25 and starts at 6:30 a.m. at the K of C Hall. For more information, visit www.bathrotary.org, or contact Melissa Sawyer at (207) 371-8002 or [email protected]
