Mayor Michael Brennan is one of the best people I know. And I know him well. We carpooled our kids to Hall School and served on the board of Boys to Men. He’s a caring and creative man, a social worker by profession – which helps explain his active concern for the homeless, the underpaid worker, the new Portland resident who has arrived to seek asylum from danger.

Mayor Brennan succeeded as our pioneer elected mayor despite an imprecise job description. The Portland economy is growing at 4 percent. There are now no failing schools in the city, down from two when Brennan took office. Standing up to Gov. LePage, Brennan helped form the Mayor’s Coalition to restore revenue sharing and expand the homestead exemption for seniors.

Let’s give Mayor Brennan a second chance to build on his accomplishments for the people of Portland.
