SACO — Guy Arthur “Skip” Paolini, a retired hone specialist, musician, licensed boat captain and avid outdoorsman, died peacefully after a long battle with cancer on Oct. 25, 2015, at the age of 75 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.
He lived in Saco, a place he called home for the last 14 years.
Skip is survived by: his brother, Edward Paolini of Lacona, New York; his loving companion, Roberta Manning and her son Joshua Boucher of Saco; his children, Jill Farris of Austin, Texas, and Mark Paolini of Athens, Georgia; and his two beloved grandsons, Zen and Rohen Farris; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his brother, William Paolini.
Skip was born in Milford, Massachusetts on April 30, 1940, to Guido and Irene (Perron) Paolini, and lived in Westborough for the next 60 years. He graduated from Westborough High School in 1958.
Skip was a man of many talents. He was a drummer since his teen years; he started playing in high school bands such as the Travelaires and spent the next 20 years playing all over New England in the Dixieland jazz band Cedar Swamp Seven alongside his accordion-playing father, Guido Paolini.
He had many passions, including playing music, fly fishing, tying flies, making fly rods, duck and deer hunting and tuna fishing. He was an active member of the Casco Bay Tuna Club for many years.
Skip was a member of the Westborough Athletic Social Association for many years before moving to Maine. Skip also assisted in the yearly fish stocking of the Westborough reservoir for many years. Skip volunteered many happy hours as a Saco River Salmon Club and Hatchery director.
In later years, Skip bought his motorcycle and thoroughly enjoyed riding with his friends. They called themselves the “Gray Wolves.” Always outgoing, he loved to tell stories and enjoyed the company of family and friends.
Skip wished to be cremated and his ashes laid to rest at sea, where he was always at peace.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
