He was born in Biddeford on March 31, 1959, the son of Maurice L. and Claurette Lachance Provencher. He was educated in Biddeford schools and graduated from Biddeford High School with the Class of 1977.
John worked along with his father at AF Letellier & Son Plumbing & Heating in Biddeford for a few years. He later served a tour of duty with the U.S. Army.
After being discharged, he worked as a plumber with several local contractors. For the past 15 years he had been self employed at Provencher Piping in Hollis Center.
John enjoyed fishing, hunting, hiking, astronomy, gardening, meteorology, reading and the company of his loving grandchildren.
He is survived by: his wife, Roslynn Neal Landry of Hollis; a son, Jason M. Provencher of Biddeford; his mother, Claurette Fecteau and her husband Raoul of Biddeford; five stepdaughters, Naarah Lamarre of Biddeford, Jessica Martineau and her husband Bill of Shapleigh, April Renae Harris of Hollis, Christianna Landry of Buxton, and Michaella Landry of Buxton; a stepson, Jimmy Laverriere and his wife Melanie of Alfred; two brothers, Normand S. Provencher and his wife Jane of Biddeford, and Marc M. Provencher and his wife Melissa of Biddeford; three sisters, Susan L. O’Brien and her husband Michael of Poland, Lynn Cantara and husband Marc of Biddeford, and Karen A. Gilblair and fiancé Aaron Pelletier of Biddeford; three stepsisters, Charlene Ruel and her husband Roger of Biddeford, Diane Cole and her husband John of Indiana, and Allison Fecteau & her husband Tim of Shapleigh; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 2 at St. Philip’s Church in Lyman. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford.
