The town of Scarborough is reminding residents that the new parking rules at Higgins Beach have gone into effect, from 6 a.m.-10 p.m. daily, through Sept. 15. One hour of free, metered parking is offered on Bayview Avenue only.
All vehicles must be squarely parked within the designated space and all drivers must get a parking voucher and display it on the dashboard of the driver’s side, as soon as they park. All parking vouchers must also match the license plate of the vehicle displaying the voucher.
The drop-off zone, painted in green, is limited to 5 minutes only. In addition, no buses, vans or campers are allowed to park anywhere in Higgins Beach.
Visitors should also note there is a town-owned parking lot on Ocean Avenue, where parking is $10 per day.
