My name is Kirsten Migliore, and I have been a resident of Westbrook since March 2009. I am writing a letter of endorsement for Veronica Bates, currently running for city councilor for Ward 2.

I met Veronica a couple of years ago when I delivered a bag of gloves and hats for her and her daughter to add to their The Amazing Mitten Tree Project at Saccarappa Elementary school and Westbrook Middle School. Our initial meeting and chat turned into an over an hour. We talked about Westbrook schools and her work on the School Committee, including projects/curriculum she hoped to have the committee help collaborate on with educators for future students. One of these projects included STEM education and creating a guided course list for students interested in careers focusing on science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Her passion and enthusiasm for children and the city of Westbrook is inspiring. Every day I see posts on Facebook from Veronica sharing updates about goings-on in the city such as the new mural being created on Main Street, the Dress Closet, the Locker Project, the Westbrook schools expansion project, weekly events at the city’s schools, Westbrook Kiwanis events, announcements of planning board and school committee meetings, and many more. She is always quick to respond to questions or comments and is always present at city events and celebrations for different organizations and businesses. She is a huge voice for our city and a person who is tirelessly working to help others while bringing positive change to our wonderful city.

Her energy, love, and dedication would be great additions to have on the City Council, and I fully endorse her for city councilor for Ward 2.
