On Nov. 8, Westbrook citizens will be asked for vote for a new mayor. It is so important that this race is not lost amid the current political firestorm that is the presidential election. The role of mayor is key to the future of Westbrook. It will help build upon the successes of the current Mayor Hilton and solidify our city as “the place to be” in the Greater Portland community.
For these reasons, I am supporting Michael Shaughnessy as the candidate for mayor. Michael is a professor and an artist who works for USM. If you haven’t seen the hay ball on the roof of his car, watch for it!
He understands the importance of having a solid K-12 education. His experience as a dad of four sons has shown him that students learn differently and having the resources available to support that is crucial. He understands the need for a strong downtown and making sure Westbrook really is “Open for Business.”
In the role of mayor, Michael Shaughnessy will be a positive, forward-thinking leader, which is just what Westbrook needs.
