Mill Brook trail opens

Over 45 people braved frigid temperatures on Saturday, Dec. 10, to attend the Presumpscot Regional Land Trust ribbon cutting to officially open the Mill Brook Preserve trail system in Westbrook. The three-mile trail system is now open to the public for walking, hiking, trail running, and snowshoeing. There are three trailheads to the preserve, with the primary access next to 789 Methodist Road at the top of the new private road, Allen Knight Road.

Seniors to dine, raffle

Westbrook Senior Citizens will be served a meal when the group meets at noon on Monday, Dec. 19, at the Westbrook Community Center, 426 Bridge St.

The menu includes ham, mashed potatoes, vegetables and strawberry shortcake.

A pound auction, which the group’s spokeswoman, Ann McAlpine, described as similar to a Christmas raffle, will  be the entertainment.

Woman’s club luncheon planned

The GFWC Westbrook Woman’s Club will meet for a catered Christmas luncheon on  Tuesday, Dec. 20,  at 11:30 a.m.  at Westbrook Warren Congregational Church, 810 Main St.

Guests are welcome.

VNA honors Hilton

Colleen Hilton, president of VNA Home Health Hospice and senior vice president of EMMS, was recognized last month in Augusta as one of three who have provided exceptional home care and hospice support.

Hilton received the distinguished service award for her leadership, insight and compassion, the VNA said in a statement. “I am honored,” said Hilton, past mayor of Westbrook.
