PORTLAND — Donald R. Boissonneault, 79, of Arundel died on Friday, May 19, 2017 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

He was born on June 11, 1937 to Gerard and Josephine (Letindre) Boissonneault in Biddeford. He proudly served in the United States Army Reserve for four years, then joined the United States Navy for four years, and was honorably discharged in 1962.

On Aug. 20, 1960, he married Therese I. Moreau at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford.

He worked at Pepperell Manufacturing Co. for four years. He then spent 30 years with St. Johnsbury Trucking of Scarborough. After that he spent 12 years with Unicco Integrated Services in South Portland before his retirement in 2007. He was very active in the local community and belonged to many organizations, including the Knights of Columbus, Arundel Eagles, Biddeford VFW, Masons of Biddeford, and Biddeford American Legion.

Donald is survived by his wife of 56 years, Therese Boissonneault of Arundel; a son, Michael Boissonneault and his wife Crystal of Spotsylvania, Virginia; two daughters, Susan Roberts of Sanford, Maine and Penny Smith of Venice, Florida; two brothers, Benoit Boissonneault of Saco and ​Leroy Boissonneault and his wife Terry of Cornwall, Ontario; two sisters, Joanne Porter and her husband George of Manchester, New Hampshire and Jeanne Boissonneault of Lexington, Massachusetts; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Hope Memorial Chapel 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford. Burial will be in Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery in Springvale.
