HOLLIS – Sally J. Leighton Locke, 71, of Hollis, passed away Feb. 8, 2021 at Mercy Hospital from complications from her prior health conditions.

Sally was born on Sept. 14, 1949, daughter of Lloyd Leighton and Marjorie Leighton Plummer. She grew up in Hollis and for the past 35 years resided in the house next to her childhood home.

She attended Bonny Eagle High School and graduated in 1967. She was a strong independent young woman who liked to travel. She skied in the Alps of Switzerland and lived in Minnesota for a while. In July of 1975 she married Paul Locke, the love of her life.

She worked in various jobs including secretarial work at USM in Gorham and finally retired as secretary at the Hanson Elementary School in Buxton. She always loved the outdoors. She liked hunting, snowmobiling and recently four wheeling with her close circle of friends “upta” camp. Her favorite pastime, however, was spending time with her granddaughter, Sadie.

Sally is survived by her daughter, Jessica Hay, her husband Stephen Hay and her grandaughter Sadie Glover of Hollis; also a sister, Nancy, of North Carolina.

She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, David and Barry; and her loving husband, Paul.

Due to Covid, services will be delayed till this spring when her family and friends can gather to celebrate her life.
