Sonja Napijalo
PORTLAND – Sonja Napijalo, 42, of Portland, passed away after a courageous three-year battle with lymphoma on Monday, Feb. 15, 2021, in Scarborough.
She was born in the former Yugoslavia on April 18, 1978, a daughter of Nenad and Snezana (Vanovac) Topalovic.
Sonja received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Southern Maine. She was employed by Idexx Laboratories in Westbrook for 16 years.
Sonja was her happiest when she was with her family, especially the time she spent with her children. She found great joy celebrating special occasions such as birthdays and weddings. She had a kind ear and a warm smile, you rarely found one without the other. She was brave and strong, standing tall for herself and her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter and friend. She will be sadly missed.
Sonja also loved nature and the outdoors. She enjoyed taking walks and spending time on the beach. She took many photos with her family that we will hold on to and cherish forever.
She was a member of St. Demetrios Serbian Orthodox Church in Biddeford.
She is survived by her parents, Nenad and Snezana, her loving husband, Slobodan, children, Ana and Vladan, and siblings, Milan, Vedran and Bojan and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be from 3-6 p.m., Friday, Feb. 19, 2021, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James Street, Saco. A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021, at St. Demetrios Serbian Orthodox Church, 35 Adams Street, Biddeford. Burial will follow in St. Demetrios Cemetery in Biddeford.
