LYNN, Mass. – David A. “Stub” Curneil, 62, of Lynn, Mass., died on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Massachusetts General Hospital after a brief battle with cancer.

Born in Portland he was the son of Roseann (Ciriello) Curneil of Portland and the late Robert Curneil. He had lived in Maine until he came to Massachusetts 40 years ago to begin the GE Apprentice Program. He had lived in Salem, Mass. and Lynn, Mass. for many years.

For over 20 years “Stub” had worked as a machinist at the GE Riverworks Plant, Lynn, Mass.

He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and sports and had excelled as a catcher on his high school baseball team, and as a softball player for many years after high school. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved to have barbecues in the backyard and was always manning the grill.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his other half, of 38 years, Janet Pazik of Lynn, Mass.; two children Aleisha Paquette and her husband Nick of Dover, N.H., and Stephen Tracchia and his wife Karen of Salem; three grandchildren Abby, Samantha, and Jake; two brothers Mark Curneil and his wife Martha, Jeff Curneil and his wife Rose, and a sister, Michelle Curneil; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Memorial visiting hours will be held on Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Solimine Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn, Mass. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and are required to adhere to the guidelines of the CDC, the State of Massachusetts and the Local Board of Health, which allows up to 50 family and friends in the funeral home at a time and all are required to wear a face covering and practice social distancing.
