Richard “Rick” Mannette

KALISPELL, Mont. – Richard Mannette, 70, of Kalispell Mont. passed away on May 11, 2021.

Richard was born on March 9, 1951 in Portland to Joseph and Marion (Carver) Mannette.

“Red Line Rick” as he liked to be called, was an avid ski racer and participated in many races throughout New England as well as at Lake Placid N.Y. In addition, he would make the yearly trip to Tuckerman’s Ravine to ski. He was a mechanic and also did body work giving him the nickname of “Uncle Fudge”. He was always fixing cars up, one of his pride possessions was his Camaro that he lowered the roof on and had a skier painted on the hood. Everywhere he went it stood out which made him proud of his work. He also enjoyed car racing and would travel to Pocono Raceway yearly. Always a thrill seeker, even sat in front of a black powder cannon as it blew off, he claimed he wanted to experience the full effect. His ears rang for days and we laughed over this for years.

He is survived by siblings, Greg Mannette, Carey and his wife, Amy Mannette, Nancy Mannette, Carol Mannette and Patty Seavey, Richard and Ronald Hansen; nieces Tina Carignan, Amy Carignan, Jessica Benade, Heather Poitras, Emily Poitras, Jena Mannette, Ashley Mannette, Elizabeth Thompson, Lindsey Thompson, nephew, Derek Thompson

He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Mannette and Marion (Carver) Mannette; brothers William and Bobby Mannette.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Friday May 28 at 10 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery in South Portland.
