Donna S. Perkins

SACO – Donna S. Perkins, 80, formerly of Biddeford, passed away on Jan. 29, 2022 in Saco. Donna was born on Nov. 4, 1941, the daughter of late Dorothy (Blanchard) Weeks and Donald Vickerson. She grew up in both Cape Elizabeth and South Portland and graduated from South Portland High School in 1953.She met the love of her life, the late Carroll Perkins, and married him on Feb. 25, 1961. They were happily married for 52 years. Together they devoted their lives to caring for and raising their daughter, Laurie and son James. For them, this was the most important part of their lives. They both were extremely hard working and would often go to great lengths to ensure their family’s happiness and wellbeing.Donna was a homemaker and stay at home mom until the children were grown. After that she enjoyed working part-time at Walmart and Kennebunk Nursing Home.She loved: to sing, playing cards and board games, the New England Patriots, the Red Sox, going to the Portland Seadogs baseball games, listening to country music, attending church, watching the birds, dogs, bowling with her friends, camping with her husband in Alton Bay, N.H., and going to lunch and movies with her sister always followed with a Blizzard at Dairy Queen.She was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy Weeks, her father Donald S. Vickerson; her loving husband, Carroll; and her grandson Bradley Mitchell.She is survived by her daughter, Laurie Mitchell and her husband James, her son James Perkins and his wife Francys; her sister Susan (Weeks) Mottice and her husband Daryl of Gray; her beloved grandchildren Kimberly Perkins of Dayton and James Perkins of Wakefield, Mass.; great nephew Dan Mottice, his wife Nichole, their two young boys; and close friends Anne-Marie Valade, Rebecca Breard, and Isolde Cole.Donna’s daughter Laurie and son Jim would like to give special thanks to everyone at Seal Rock Healthcare at Atlantic Heights in Saco for taking such excellent care of her during the 19 months she was a resident. Donna absolutely cherished her family, and will be greatly missed. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 11 a.m. at the Advent Christian Church, 503 Goodwins Mills Road, Dayton followed by a reception at the mill next door to the church for family and friends to share memories of Donna.
