Beatrice M. Roux

ACTON – Beatrice M. Roux of Acton passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2022 at Huntington Commons in Kennebunk. She was surrounded by the love of her husband and family during her entire life.

She was born in Sanford to William and Mary (Duffy) Sharp on Dec. 29, 1927, the youngest of seven children. She was a proud honor graduate of Sanford High School Class of 1946. She married Robert Roux on Dec. 1, 1951 and together they enjoyed 70 years of marriage. She was a lifelong communicant of Holy Family Parish.

Bea is survived by her husband, Robert Roux; her daughters, Marlene Flanagan, Rosemary Dionne, and her husband Leo, and daughter-in-law, Gail Roux. She is also survived by her sons, Stephen Roux and his wife, Susan, William Roux and his partner, Mark Mitobe, and Kevin Roux and his wife, Lisa. Her son, Richard Roux, and son-in-law, Brian Flanagan predeceased her. She is also survived by her ten grandchildren, Jacob Roux, Heather Legere, Tyler Roux, Michael Flanagan, Brady Flanagan, Andrew Flanagan, Luke Dionne, Natalie Dionne, Olivia Roux and Sydney Roux; as well as nine great-grandchildren, and another baby due in May

Bea’s children always considered her a “library” as she was so well read and had so many interests. She would read anything she could get her hands on and always retained what she read. Her collection of books could fill a room and she was always curious about the interests of her children and grandchildren. Bea was a kind and generous woman and everyone who knew her loved her. She was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker, and could whip up a meal for her large family at a moment’s notice. Bob and Bea enjoyed their life at Mousam Lake in Acton and also wintered at New Smyrna Beach, Fla. for 27 years where they developed some wonderful relationships with their fellow “snowbirds”.

Bea was lovingly cared for by the staff at Huntington Common and Northern Lights Hospice for the past several months.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church in Sanford, Maine on Feb. 11, 2022 at 10 a.m.
