St. John’s student wins state poster contest

Sadie Anderson, a third grader at St. John’s Catholic School in Brunswick, was the first-place K-3 winner in the Maine Constitution Essay and Poster Program. She and her classmates met the Secretary of State Shenna Bellows and Rep. Ed Polewarczyk at the Statehouse on June 1.

The Maine Constitution Essay and Poster Program promotes state history, study of the Maine Constitution and the importance of democracy and voting. The competition is open to all grade levels. The K-3 grades were asked to draw posters of official Maine symbols.

Atlantic Federal Credit Union Foundation awards $20,000 in scholarships

The Atlantic Federal Credit Union Foundation awarded $20,000 in scholarships to five graduating seniors from Maine high schools, including $2,500 to Elise Provencher of Greely High School and $1,000 to Marisa Schultz of Mt. Ararat High School.  The recipients are members of Atlantic FCU and applied with an essay, a reference letter from a high school teacher or counselor, a resume, including community service, and their transcript.

Jobs for Maine Graduates receives $10,000 grant

Jobs for Maine Graduates, a statewide organization that provides resources for students pursuing careers, was chosen to receive the State Farm Good Neighbor Citizenship Company Grant.

“We are incredibly grateful to State Farm for their generous grant,” said Craig Larrabee, president and CEO of JMG. “This funding will support our capacity and ability to provide our students a continuum of support.”
