Larry D. Cardona
PORTLAND – Larry D. Cardona, 72, of Portland, formerly of Florida, passed away on August 28, 2023 with his family by his side.
He was the son of Lorraine (Quinn) and Vincent Cardona and attended Portland schools. He enlisted as a United States Marine at the age of 17 and served in the Vietnam War. After his service he worked various jobs but for the past 30+ years as a longhall truck driver. He primarily moved military staff and was very proud to do so. Larry loved his job and those he worked for and with. He retired shortly before his death from colon cancer.
Larry is survived by two sons and one daughter, Larry Cardona and his wife Jenny of Indianapolis, Ind.,, Michael Cardona of Live Oak, Fla. and Rose Cardona of Westbrook; and several grandchildren.
He is also survived by 12 siblings, Linda Cardona (his twin) and partner Frank, Michael Cardona, Carol Bellanceau and husband Robert, Daniel Cardona and wife Dodie, Mary Magno and husband Arvid , Thomas Cardona of Portland, Paula Cardona and partner Hope, Pamela Day and husband Festus, Angela Cardona, Rose Sheehan and husband Thomas, Susan Carlista and husband Robert and Vincent Cardona; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Forest City Cemetery, South Portland.
