School nominations

Nomination papers are available in the Town Clerk’s Office to fill the remainder of the term left when Stewart McCallister resigned earlier this year. The three-year term expires in November.

Any registered Gorham voter interested in running for the position must submit nomination papers with no less than 35 or more than 50 signatures of persons who are registered voters in the town.

Completed nomination papers must be submitted to the Town Clerk’s Office at the municipal center no later than 5 p.m. April 10.

An election is set for June 10 to elect the one member to serve on the board until November.

Jaci Reynolds was appointed to temporarily fill the vacancy until June.

50 years ago

The American Journal reported on March 12, 1975, that after a heated debate, Gorham Town Council approved a $3 million municipal budget down $23,000 from the one proposed by Town Manager Eben Marsh. The meeting drew a crowd of 70 residents.
