The Taste of Maine Restaurant on Route 1 in Woolwich is to be sold after years on the market.
The landmark seafood restaurant with a giant lobster draped over its roof will officially change hands sometime in late August or early September, owners said in a social media post Tuesday.
Candy and Scott Gregory announced publicly in early 2023 that they were planning to sell the restaurant and retire. The Gregory family has owned the establishment for nearly five decades.
“Four years ago, we quietly put The Taste of Maine up for sale, and today we are happy to say we have officially found a buyer,” the owners said in the post.
They praised their staff, thanked the restaurant’s loyal customers, and said it’s “truly been an amazing ride.”
“The memories, friendships, laughter, and support you have given us over the years mean more than words could ever express,” they said. “We ask that you continue to support the new owners the same way you supported us. We truly want them to succeed and continue the legacy of this special place.”
