Mavodones wins seventh term in Portland's at-large seat
PORTLAND — Nick Mavodones Jr. will continue as the city’s longest tenured councilor after getting re-elected Tuesday to his at-large seat. Mavodones defeated challengers Dave Foster and Matthew Coffey 9,754 to 3,153 to 2,476, respectively, to win a seventh, three-year term.
Strimling wins Portland mayoral race
PORTLAND — Former state Sen. Ethan Strimling was elected mayor of Portland Tuesday, defeating incumbent Michael Brennan and challenger Tom MacMillan. The vote totals were 9,162 for Strimling, 6,882 for Brennan and 1,880 for MacMillan. By taking 51 percent of the popular vote, Strimling won without the need of an instant runoff.
