VOLUNTEER
Help support families in Maine by volunteering for the Portland Press Herald Toy Fund. Volunteers unpack, sort and bag gifts according to the age and gender of each child. Some people have volunteered for the Toy Fund for decades.
Volunteers must be 18 or older, and work usually begins in mid-November. Volunteers generally work 3-6 hours on days they are available.
Thanks for your interest. Our volunteer slots are full for 2024. Please check back next year.
JOIN A FUNDRAISING EFFORT
Since the early days, groups of people have gathered together to raise money for the Toy Fund. Friends challenge each other to make a donation. Relatives pool their resources to donate as a family or in memory of a loved one. Community groups hold bake sales or benefit concerts. For many years, fifth-graders at Brown Elementary School in South Portland have held a penny drive for the cause.
Donors’ names and dedications are published in the newspaper, at pressherald.com and on Facebook.
However you may help, let us know so that we can share your event. Every little bit helps bring joy to children from York, Cumberland, Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Knox and Androscoggin counties!
