The Brick Store Museum announced a new discussion series that invites community members to read and discuss historic letters and diaries from the museum’s archives. The program, supported by the Maine Humanities Council’s Discussion Project, offers an opportunity to connect with local history and each other through shared readings of 19th-century firsthand accounts. The series […]

Letters – Enact policy consistent with Title IX
I have two granddaughters who may want to play in school sports when they are a little older. Title IX is a federal law designed to create safe, fair and equal athletic opportunities for girls and women in educational settings that receive federal funds. RSU 21 receives federal funds. Title IX preserves sex-based distinctions for […]

The Kennebunk Free Library is delighted to extend its heartfelt appreciation to Cole Harrison Insurance, George C. Harrington and Diantha C. Harrington, Thomas Hartfield and Mimi Gurbst, and the board of trustees for coming together to create the $12,000 Holiday Giving Challenge Fund. The fund inspired generous giving across our community that helped us bypass […]

The upcoming election on Feb. 11 will ask voters to choose between a three-year contract renewal with Casella and a 30-year contract with Ecomaine. Some members of the Kennebunk Select Board have endorsed the 30-year agreement with Ecomaine stating it would be cheaper in the long run. This differs from earlier statements from the board […]
Letters – Speak up in support
I made a mistake. I should have spoken up, but I didn’t. I let feelings of frustration, fury, and wanting to “get it right” get in the way of standing up to some hateful and harmful words spoken at the RSU 21 School Board meeting on Monday, Feb. 3, during the public comment period. Here’s […]
