PORTLAND — Theresa Hendrix allowed five hits with eight strikeouts Tuesday as Cheverus surprised previously unbeaten Scarborough 5-1 in a Southern Maine Activities Association softball game.

Scarborough (12-1) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI double by Mo Hannan.

The Stags (10-3) took advantage of a throwing error in the fifth when a weak hit up the middle by Anna Snook resulted in an errant throw to first base, scoring Hendrix and Erin Bucci.

Audrey Grinnell knocked in Snook with a single, followed by Jasmyn Welch’s two-run homer.

BONNY EAGLE 10, PORTLAND 4:
Deedee Day and Whitney Porter each hit two singles, a triple and two RBI, and Hannah Boucher added three singles as the Scots (7-5) beat the Bulldogs (1-13) at Portland.
Leeann Reichert hit an RBI single and a solo home run for Portland.

LACROSSE
SANFORD 12, NOBLE 4:
Sarah Alexander scored five goals to lead the Redskins (7-3) past the Knights (0-11) at North Berwick.
Stephanie Ruger scored four times and China Page made 14 saves for Noble.

SCARBOROUGH 17, MARSHWOOD 5:
Ellie Morin had five goals and an assist as the Red Storm (11-0) beat the Hawks (3-7) at South Berwick.
Meghan Quirk had three goals and an assist, and Lindsey Hagerman added three goals for Scarborough, which led 14-1 at halftime.

WESTBROOK 9, MCAULEY 6:
Siera Bellino scored four goals and Vanessa Bradburg added two for the Blue Blazes (3-8) against the Lions (3-8) at Portland.
After Westbrook led 6-3 at the half, McAuley pulled within 7-6 with 18 minutes left before the Blue Blazes put it away.

MASSABESIC 18, BONNY EAGLE 14:
Jenna Cyr scored four of her six goals in the first half as the Mustangs (4-5) took a 12-7 lead and held off the Scots (3-7) at Standish.
Amber Rollins added three goals for Massabesic.

NYA 8, WAYNFLETE 7: Lilly Wellenbach and Courtney Dumont each scored four goals for the Panthers (8-3) against the Flyers (10-2) at Portland.
After a 4-4 halftime tie, NYA scored three of the first four goals in the second half. Wellenbach made it 8-6 with three minutes left.

CAPE ELIZABETH 15, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 1: Emily Hollyday had two goals and an assist as the Capers (7-3) beat the Raiders (0-8) at Fryeburg.
Maddie Spagnola, Katie Lavallee, Karyn Barrett and Janessa White each scored twice, and Talley Perkins had a goal and three assists for the Capers.

FALMOUTH 19, WELLS 8: Alex Bernier had five goals and two assists, Laura Fay added three goals and two assists, and Caroline Clement had three goals and one assist to lead the Yachtsmen (8-3) over Wells (4-5) at Falmouth.
Lily Colley scored four goals for the Warriors.

THORNTON ACADEMY 11, CHEVERUS 8:
Alanna Richard scored three goals for the Golden Trojans (7-2), who took a 7-5 halftime lead and held off the Stags (7-4) at Portland.
Michelle Giroux and Erin Kany had two goals for Thornton.

SOUTH PORTLAND 4, DEERING 2: Nikki Laplante and Hannah Noll scored two goals each to lead the Red Riots (6-4) past the Rams (2-7-1) at South Portland.
