PORTLAND’S TATE HOUSE, built in 1755, is the only pre-Revolutionary War home in the city open to the public. On the first and third Thursdays of each month, through early October, visitors can take a 90-minute tour exploring the historic home’s architecture from the base of its huge center chimney to the rafters in the attic.
