The York County Sheriff’s Office has broken up a commercial burglary ring responsible for stealing $125,000 in vehicles and equipment earlier this month.

The department said the theft of a $90,000 Kubota tractor and trailer from Alfred, a $6,000 GMC truck from Lebanon and $30,000 in snowmobiles and equipment from a business in Sanford, the sheriff’s office said.

Sheriff’s deputies and Sanford police arrested two Waterboro men last week: Timothy Caswell, 32, and Charles Stoddard, 53, on charges of theft and receiving stolen property. A third man, Anthony Foglio, 25, of Waterboro, was arrested this afternoon in Bath on a warrant charging him with theft and receiving stolen property. He also was charged with trafficking in drugs, possession of marijuana and vilating bail conditions.

Sheriff Maurice Ouellette said Foglio has had extensive contact with police and his bail is set at $100,000.

Deputies said they identified locations in Lyman, Waterboro, Danforth and Vanceboro where stolen items were fenced. They recovered three snowmobiles and the truck in York County. They said they had to drive through the night to the Washington County town of Danforth to locate the tractor, which they were afraid was headed out of the country to Canada.

Deputies worked with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement to recover the tractor.
