BANGOR — A former University of Maine student has pleaded not guilty to charges of taking video recordings of other students taking showers in a university dormitory.

Nineteen-year-old William Russell, of Guilford, pleaded not guilty today at the Penobscot Judicial Center in Bangor to three charges of invasion of privacy.

According to the Bangor Daily news, three male students said Russell recorded them with a video camera without their consent while they were taking showers in early November.

Russell told District Court Judge Mary Kelly that he had been suspended from the university until next fall, when he might apply to be reinstated.
