BATH — Police said today that the Bath man they arrested last Friday for drunk driving tested almost three times the legal limit.

Lt. Stan Cielinski said 27-year-old Ryan Martin was charged with operating under the influence after the 1999 Jeep Cherokee he was driving struck several snow banks on High Street before coming to rest on top of a six-foot snowbank.

The accident took place at 5:18 a.m.

Martin’s breath alcohol test was .23, which is nearly three times the legal limit for Maine. He was released on personal recognizance bail. His court date will be March 22 in West Bath District Court.

Martin and a male passenger were not harmed. The Jeep received $600 of front-end damage.
Cielinski said he did not know where Martin and his companion had been prior to the crash.
