PORTLAND—Defenseman Bob Raymond celebrated his first AHL game by putting in a rising shot from center point with 3:51 left to snap a 3-3 and spark the Binghamton Senators to a 5-3 win against the Portland Pirates at the Cumberland County Civic Center Thursday night.

With the victory, Binghamton took a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven Calder Cup series.

Kaspars Daugavins, Zack Smith and Bobby Butler scored goals during an eight-minute segment of the second period to rally Binghamton from an early 2-0 deficit.

Veterans Derek Whitmore and Mark Mancari scored goals to help stake the Pirates to their early lead. With less than 10 minutes left in the third period, Mancari scored his fifth goal of the playoffs to forge a short-lived 3-3 tie.

Daugavins added an empty-net goal with three seconds left.
