Several community art shows are on the schedule in coming weeks, including South Portland’s 32nd annual Art in the Park from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Mill Creek in the heart of downtown.
The juried art show features original art work and photography by up to 185 artists in a variety of styles. The event also features food, music and activities for children.
A student art tent includes work from students in South Portland schools. Every year, a committee chooses three student artworks to use in promotional materials for the show, including posters, T-shirts and the program cover.
Mill Creek is on Broadway between Ocean Street and Cottage Road, one block east of the Casco Bay Bridge. The show is known for the quality of its art and the serious nature of the participating artists. For details, visit artintheparkmaine.com.
• In South Paris, Moore Park will feature arts of all kinds and a day of live performances from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Forty artists, including several award-winners, will exhibit their work, and there will be live musical performances throughout the day.
