BANGOR — Gov. Paul LePage says it’s pretty amazing to watch one plane refueling another while traveling through the air at 400 mph.

The governor and first lady Ann LePage today boarded a flight in Bangor at the Air National Guard Base to observe what the 101st Air Refueling Wing does best — refuel aircraft in flight.

The governor says watching the refueling operation from a bird’s eye view was impressive. He says the men and women on that flight were complete professionals.

This morning, four F-16s from the Vermont Air National Guard were refueled. Each was given about 1,000 gallons of fuel. The governor’s participation was the first time a Maine governor took part in an orientation flight since Angus King did in December 1995.
