WINDHAM — A watch once owned by Elvis Presley on sale at Windham Jewelers for $24,000 was sold this morning.

Store owner Kathy Byrnes would not give any details about who bought it or for how much money. She said the watch would remain in the store throughout its annual estate jewelry sale, which ends Saturday.

The watch was part of a display brought to Windham Jewelers by The Singer Collection, a New York City-based buyer and seller of antique and estate jewelry.

Other items in the display include Bob Hope’s cuff links and a bangle from the estate of Bernard Madoff.

The watch owned by Elvis was given to him by his fan club, the Tankers, when he returned to Memphis, Tenn., from the military in 1960. The Hamilton watch has a 14-karat-gold-framed face, razor-cut crystal and black leather strap.
