The southern stretches of the Saco River make take a couple days to subside, but emergency officials expect no major flooding, said York County Emergency Management Director Kimberley White-Kaiser.

“At this point, I don’t see any major issues. Dam owners did a great job getting lake levels down starting Wednesday,” she said.

White-Kaiser said there were no reports of injuries as a result of the storm. There were house fires in Alfred and Sanford Sunday as Irene swept through, though it’s not clear whether they were related to the storm.

There were no roads washed out in York County, as there have been in Oxford County, though flash flooding did render some roads dangerous during the storm, she said.
