FREEPORT — Traffic on Interstate 295 northbound was slowed by a car fire this afternoon at mile marker 21 in Freeport.

The fire broke out at 1 p.m. in a 2005 Subaru owned by Michelle Baker, 25, of Woolwich. The fire started somewhere near the rear axle, according to state police.

Freeport firefighters responded and put the fire out, but traffic was down to one lane for about 30 minutes. Nobody was injured.
