Girls’ high school basketball players from the Yes! Basketball Summer Program in Portland will compete in the fourth annual New England Classic on Sept. 18 at the University of Southern Maine’s Costello Sports Complex in Gorham.
Maine players will face off against the best players from Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont.
Games will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and are open to the public.
The Boothbay Charities Classic Golf Tournament to benefit the Special Olympics will be held Sept. 23 at the Boothbay Country Club. Team openings and limited individual golfer positions are still available.
Anyone interested in participating should contact Brenda Blackman at 633-5149 or Ken at 633-3914. In addition to the golf tournament, there will also be a Twin Bill of Laughs comedy event on Sept. 21 at the Carousel Music Theater and a silent auction and lobster bake on Sept. 22. The silent auction will be available for public viewing at the Railway Village Meeting Hall from 3:30-5:30 p.m.
