Writer, anthropologist and Maine resident Liza Bakewell will be giving a talk on her book “Madre: Perilous Journeys with a Spanish Noun” at the Portland Public Library on Wednesday. The book, in Bakewell’s words, is “part memoir, part travelogue and part investigation into a culture and its language.” Her talk is part of the library’s Brown Bag Lecture series, so bring your lunch if you want.
