SOUTH PORTLAND — The South Portland Land Trust has released its first map showing more than 15 miles of trails and special places in Maine’s fourth-largest city.

One side features a full-color map highlighting existing and proposed trails; the other side provides trail descriptions ranging from coastal strolls to woodland hikes. The guide offesr options for walking or biking to school, work or shopping, getting some exercise or launching a kayak.

The map is free to members and will be sold to nonmembers for $4.95 at Nonesuch Books, City Hall, the Planning Department at the former Hamlin School and the Parks Department at the South Portland Community Center.

A limited number of complimentary copies will be available from major donors, including the local branch of Saco & Biddeford Savings Bank, the Maine Mall and Ainsworth, Thelin & Raftice. Reference copies also will be available at the public library and schools.
