AUGUSTA — Maine energy officials say the state’s average heating oil price has risen a nickel per gallon in the past week.

The Governor’s Office of Energy Independence and Security’s survey Monday found that the current statewide average cash price for No. 2 heating oil is $3.56 per gallon.

Energy Director Ken Fletcher says that with winter fast approaching and demand increasing, fuel dealers and their customers are facing uncertainty in the weather and market in the months ahead, raising questions about energy prices.

As usual, prices were highest in the northern and eastern parts of the state and lowest in southwestern Maine.
