WATERVILLE – Colby started the women’s lacrosse season 7-0 for the first time in the program’s 34-year history with a 20-0 win Wednesday over Husson.

Katie Griffin had three goals, and Tess Petesch, Alex Mintz, Lane McVey, Katie Pistel and Lindsey McKenna each finished with two.

Husson is 2-5.

 

ST. JOSEPH’S 8, EMERSON 6: The Monks (3-2, 1-1 GNAC) shut out the Lions (3-2, 3-1) in the second half for the win at Deering High.

Megan Cutter and Cassie Diplock broke a 6-all tie with unassisted goals in the second half. Diplock had five goals, Cutter finished with two and Anneka Adame also scored.

BOWDOIN 12, BATES 10: Carolyn Gorajek had five goals and set up Olivia King’s winner with 10:35 left as the Polar Bears (4-2, 3-1 NESCAC) held off the Bobcats (3-4, 1-4) at Brunswick.

Elizabeth Clegg had two goals, and Celeste Swain, Betsy Sachs, Taylor Wilson and McKenna Teague also scored for Bowdoin.

MEN’S LACROSSE

N.E. COLLEGE 13, SOUTHERN MAINE 10: Brian Gillis had four goals and the Pilgrims (2-5) pulled away from the Huskies (3-2) in the second half at Henniker, N.H.

The Pilgrims scored five unanswered goals in the third.

Dan Thomas had four goals for the Huskies.

 

UNE 7, WENTWORTH 3: Nick Gross had three goals and an assist, and the Nor’easters (6-4, 1-1 CCC) scored five straight in the second half against the Leopards (1-4, 0-1) at Boston.

Shamus Higginbottom, Mike Pennacchio and Tyler Thomas scored in the final four minutes of the third quarter, and Gross capped the rally with two unassisted goals early in the fourth.

BASEBALL

WIS.-WHITEWATER 16, SOUTHERN MAINE 5: Marty Herum hit two singles, two doubles and a triple, and the Warhawks (7-4) had five three-run innings against the Huskies, who lost their fourth straight, at Auburndale, Fla.

Nick Grady had three hits with three RBI and two runs, David Ricker hit two triples and Forrest Chadwick also had two hits for the Huskies (6-7).

USM concludes its Florida trip today against UM-Farmington.

SOFTBALL

OBERLIN 4, SOUTHERN MAINE 2: The Yeomen (8-7) scored three runs in the second inning of a win over the Huskies (0-10) at Clermont, Fla.

Annie Mitchell and Katie Davis each drove in a run in the third for the Huskies before Oberlin posted a run in the sixth.

 

UW-WHITEWATER 20, SOUTHERN MAINE 0: Katie Boyle pitched a no-hitter and the Warhawks (9-1) had 25 hits against the Huskies (0-10).

The Huskies open their Little East Conference schedule at Western Connecticut on Saturday.
