PORTLAND — Portland and state officials tonight will host a public meeting to discuss proposed traffic changes to Outer Congress Street.
The Maine Department of Transportation this summer plans to resurface Outer Congress Street from Stevens Avenue to Johnson Road.
At the same time, the city is developing a new striping plan to modify traffic lanes. Those changes would include dedicated left turning lanes for entry to Waldo Street and for eastbound traffic on Congress Street at Westbrook Street. A center two-way turning lane would also be added near Hobart Street.
City Councilor Ed Suslovic, who represents District 3, will attend the meeting along with city staff and state transportation representatives.
The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. and takes place at the Italian Heritage Center, 40 Westland Ave. in Portland.
