BIDDEFORD — Through July, Sarah Gorham will present “Meditation on Reflection” at the University of New England Campus Center Gallery on the Biddeford campus. The exhibition features a collection of acrylics on paper exploring colorful interpretations of the water’s edge.

The series is a 20-plus-year investigation of painted water reflections. The works were created using both gestural palette knife and painted brush marks. They explore colorful combinations evocative of memories of water as well as landscape, while others use expressive and varied application of pigment to explore the layers in reflections.

Gorham began painting realistic landscapes and water scenes while in high school. She received her undergraduate degree in painting from Wittenberg University in Ohio, and completed post-graduate study through Studio Art Center International in Florence, Italy. She received a master’s in teaching from Tufts University, and most recently received her MFA from Maine College of Art in 2001.

Gorham has exhibited in both Maine and Massachusetts. She is an assistant in the arts and communications department at UNE. Learn more at sarahgorhamartist.com.
