WHALE NOTES: The Whale snapped a three-game losing streak Saturday night with a 4-2 win at Springfield. In that game, defenseman Logan Pyett notched his team-high third game-winning goal of the season. While starting the last 11 games, goalie Cameron Talbot has compiled a 2.45 goals-against average. In his last five games, right wing Chad Kolarik has three goals and four assists.

PIRATES NOTES: The Pirates have won six of their last seven games. In his last three starts, rookie goaltender Mark Visentin has compiled a 1.00 goals-against average and a .960 saves percentage. Forward Andy Miele is on a five-game points’ streak. The Pirates already have recorded a pair of one-goal victories this season against the Whale at the XL Center in Hartford.
