FREEPORT – Nina Davenport scored nine of her game-high 23 points in the third quarter when Freeport held Lake Region scoreless in a 48-32 Western Maine Conference girls’ basketball win Tuesday night.
Davenport also grabbed eight rebounds and Leigh Wyman added nine points and nine rebounds for the Falcons, who scored 15 points in the third quarter after enjoying a two-point halftime edge.
Kayleigh Lepage led the Lakers with nine points. Lake Region’s top scorer, Tiana-Jo Carter, did not play because of an injury, according to reports.
CAPE ELIZABETH 42, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 31: Montana Braxton and Kate Miklavic scored 12 points apiece to lead the Capers (6-5) over the Raiders (2-9) at Fryeburg.
Julia Quinn led Fryeburg with nine points.
GORHAM 42, WESTBROOK 39: Kristin Ross’ jump hook from the paint gave Gorham (7-4) a two-point lead over the Blue Blazes (3-7) with 40 seconds left to play in Westbrook.
Erin Smith added a free throw to put the lead at three before Westbrook’s 3-pointer at the buzzer missed.
Ross finished with 18 points. Paige Baldwin scored 11 for the Blazes.
WAYNFLETE 58, YARMOUTH 37: Leigh Fernandez scored 13 points as the Flyers (9-2) downed the visiting Clippers (0-11).
The Flyers put the game out of reach with a 26-4 run in the third period.
Monica Austin led the Clippers with 13.
SOUTH PORTLAND 54, MARSHWOOD 32: Danica Gleason had 14 points and Hope Owen and Brianne Maloney added 11 and 10 to lead the Red Riots (9-2) past the Hawks (4-7) at South Berwick.
Abby Hyson and Alli Schoff paced South Portland with six points each.
WINDHAM 47, BONNY EAGLE 40: Sam Frost scored 11 points and finished with eight steals, eight rebounds and seven assists as the Eagles (6-5) beat the Scots (3-9) at Windham.
Windham gained an early edge with an 11-5 run in the first quarter. Sadie Nelson finished with 11 for the Eagles.
GREELY 30, FALMOUTH 25: Ashley Storey was the high scorer for the Rangers (10-1) with eight points as they nipped the Yachstmen (4-7) at Falmouth.
Anna Hickey had a double-double for the Yachtsmen with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
SACOPEE VALLEY 37, BUCKFIELD 17: Kristen Lyle scored seven points and the Hawks (4-6) played aggressive defense to open a 21-2 halftime lead over the Bucks (3-9) in South Hiram.
Lyle finished with nine points, as did Mishell Mazon-Posso for the Bucks.
BIDDEFORD 42, NOBLE 37: Carissa Gelinas went 4 for 4 from the foul line in overtime and finished with a game-high 18 points to lift the Tigers (3-9) over the Knights (0-11) at Biddeford.
Chandler Waterman led Noble with 16 points, including a tying 3-pointer with 6 seconds left in regulation to force overtime.
Biddeford also got 11 rebounds from Bailey Cote.
MASSABESIC 42, KENNEBUNK 26: Audrey Hoyle scored 13 points to lead the Mustangs (2-9) over the Rams (1-10) at Kennebunk.
Doria King led the Rams with 13 points.
YORK 70, POLAND 61: Ruby Cribby’s 11 points over the first two periods led the Wildcats (10-1) to a 38-15 halftime lead over the Knights (5-6) in York.
Cribby and Shannon Todd each scored 20 for York.
Michaella Arsenault led the Knights with 19, and Emily Bolduc scored 14.
MARANACOOK 45, LINCOLN 38: Christine Miller had 14 points and eight rebounds, and Jessie Smith had 13 points and eight rebounds as the Black Bears (6-5) beat the Eagles (3-7) in a KVAC B game in Readfield.
Mariah Vining added nine points for Maranacook.
Leslie Sandefur and Danielle Pinkham had seven each for Lincoln.
MT. BLUE 58, MT. ARARAT 47: The Cougars (8-3) were 24 for 28 from the free-throw line in handing the Eagles (10-1) their first loss, at Farmington.
Mt. Blue got an edge with a 15-4 run in the third quarter.
