BRISTOL, Conn. – Jenna Geffert struck out 13 in a one-hitter Friday to lead Seymour, Conn., to a 2-0 victory against Scarborough in an opening game of the Little League softball 11-12 Northeast Regional.

Scarborough will play three more games in the round-robin portion of the tournament, including against Bristol, Vt., at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Jillian Andres hit a two-run single in the top of the first inning.

Kaitlyn Verreault threw a three-hitter for Scarborough with three strikeouts and four walks.

Scarborough’s hit was an infield single by Felicia O’Reilly in the fourth.

CENTRAL MAINE 9, PORTLAND 5: Brandon Nale hit a double and a single, and Kolby Lawrence added a pair of singles as Central Maine won an opener at the state tournament at Fairfield.

Izaak Friou and Jake Hunnewell had two singles apiece for Portland, which will face Augusta in an elimination game at 2 p.m. Saturday.

SANFORD 14, LACONIA 4: Nate LaPointe’s grand slam capped a six-run fourth inning, and Matt Verrier added three RBI as the Mainers (14-18) beat the Muskrats (18-14) at Laconia, N.H.

Daniel Nevares’ two-run double helped stake Sanford to a 4-0 lead in the second inning, and the Mainers made it 10-0 in the fourth.

NORTH SHORE 10, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 6: Conor Biggio had three hits, an RBI and a run, and Tim Hendricks drove in three runs as the Navigators (16-17) downed the Raging Tide (16-19) at Lynn, Mass.

Mekae Hyde went 4 for 5 and scored three runs for the Raging Tide.

TWILIGHT LEAGUE

LENDERS NETWORK 6, YANKEE FORD 4: Chris Bernard tied the game with a three-run homer in the seventh inning and John Mullin drove in the winning run with a two-run double in the ninth as Lenders Network rallied at Deering Oaks in Portland.
