Christmas lights were lit at South Portland’s Spring Point Ledge Light on Monday, brightening the site for the holiday season.

The lighthouse, which marks a dangerous obstruction in the main shipping channel into Portland Harbor, was established in 1897 and got electricity in 1934. On Monday its holiday lights were lit.
