NEWBURGH — Police say one person is dead and another injured after a car collided with a state Transportation Department snowplow in Newburgh.
Police say the driver of a car apparently lost control on a slippery hill on Western Avenue at about 9 p.m. Wednesday. It was snowing at the time.
Trooper Douglas Franklin tells WABI-TV the car crossed the center line and struck the plow, despite efforts by the plow driver to move out of the way.
The male driver of the car was killed. A female passenger suffered minor injuries. The plow driver was unhurt.
No names were immediately released but the car’s two occupants were both 24 years old.
The crash remains under investigation.
