Academy receives $10,000 to renovate Safford Center

North Yarmouth Academy has received a $10,000 grant from the Libra Foundation to renovate its Safford Center dining facility and multi-purpose space, that serves as the center of academic and student life.

Currently in its bicentennial year, the academy is making a special effort to revitalize its campus with a particular focus on buildings of historical significance.

Safford Center was built in 1930 and first used as an auditorium. In 1976, the space was converted to Safford Center for student dining, meetings and general use.

Funds from the Libra Foundation grant will be used to improve the aesthetics and safety of the space, allowing the academy and the greater community to better utilize it during bicentennial celebrations and beyond.
