The town of Yarmouth will hold an election in November to choose a replacement for Town Councilor Steve Woods, who resigned from the board last month.

Woods resigned from the Town Council on June 11, citing personal reasons, said Town Manager Nat Tupper. Woods resigned the day after losing the Democratic primary for state Senate District 25.

Tupper said the Town Council decided to hold a special election on Nov. 4 to find a councilor to fill the remainder of Woods’ term. The term expires in June 2016.

Nomination papers will be available Aug. 19.

Woods had served one full term on the council and the first year of his second term.
