The Maine Department of Transportation is warning motorists who commute to work on Route 1 in the Yarmouth-Freeport area that it might be wise to take an alternate route Wednesday morning and afternoon.
MDOT spokesman Ted Talbot said crews are planning to do concrete repair work on the Route 1 bridge that spans the Cousins River near the Muddy Rudder Restaurant. The bridge is on the town line between Freeport and Yarmouth.
Talbot said that motorists who use that stretch of Route 1 could encounter significant traffic delays. The repairs will take place from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
