North Berwick police say a man was killed this morning when his pickup truck went off a road and struck an embankment.

The man, whose name has not been released, died at the scene of the accident on Linscott Hill Road, a curvy road near the North Berwick-Sanford town line, said Police Chief Stephen Peasley. The accident was reported at 10:25 a.m.

“We don’t know why (the truck) went off the road at this point,” Peasley said.

There were no other people in the truck. The man’s dog did not appear to be injured and is being cared for by the town’s animal control officer.

Peasley said police continue to investigate the cause of the accident and are in the process of notifying the man’s family.
