A body recovered from the Androscoggin River on Wednesday is that of a Topsham man missing for the past week.

Police recovered the body of Clyde Bailey, 43, of Topsham at the Brookfield Renewable Energy dam at 12 Maine St. at 8:25 a.m., police said.

The river forms part of the boundary between Brunswick and Topsham.

Police from Brunswick and Topsham and the Maine Warden Service investigated. The body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner which confirmed it was Bailey and said the cause of death is drowning. Police do not suspect foul play.

Bailey, who had a history of mental health and substance abuse issues, had been reported missing Oct. 9 and police had searched for him.
